The training delves into the core components of SAP's cloud-based ABAP development environment, including:

• ABAP RESTful Application Programming (RAP) Model: A modern programming model for building cloud-native applications, emphasizing performance, scalability, and maintainability.

• Steampunk (SAP BTP ABAP Environment): SAP's Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) offering that allows ABAP developers to create applications in the cloud, leveraging the latest ABAP language constructs and tools.

• Embedded Steampunk: An extension of Steampunk integrated directly into SAP S/4HANA Cloud, enabling developers to build tightly coupled extensions within the core ERP system while maintaining cloud-readiness and upgrade stability.

SAP BTP platform enables the developer community to step into the Cloud. Customers and partners can build extensions for new app-based products like S4 Cloud as well as develop new cloud applications. Cloud Platform is also an option to transform existing existing-based custom code or extensions to the Cloud. Finally, the Cloud Platform provides access to Cloud Platform services like integration, document management, machine learning, and IoT.

The software stack contains standard technology components familiar from the standalone application server. It supports the new RESTful programming model including UX and Core Data Services (CDS). Services and APIs are offered according to a new whitelisting approach.

• Setting Up Development Environment: Configuring SAP Cloud Platform Cloud Foundry (CF) and ABAP Development Tools (ADT) for Eclipse.

• Data Dictionary (DDIC) Objects in the Cloud: Creating and managing DDIC objects within the cloud environment.

• Core Data Services (CDS) Views: Defining data models using CDS views for efficient data retrieval and manipulation.

• Managed and Unmanaged Implementations: Developing applications using both managed and unmanaged scenarios in the RAP model.

• Side-by-Side Extensions: Building applications that extend SAP S/4HANA functionalities without modifying the core system.

• Integration with SAP Services: Utilizing SAP Cloud Platform services like Integration Suite, Document Management, Machine Learning, and IoT in ABAP applications.

• Version Control and Git Integration: Implementing version control practices using Git within the ABAP development environment.
